1st Year Football: De La Salle 3 – 1 Athlone Community College

Congratulations to the 1st Year football team who came out victorious against a talented Athlone Community College in the first round of the cup. 

Captain Reece Grimes opened the score sheet in the first half after striker Lennon Whelan worked hard to secure the ball to provide the assist. It was the Grimes and Whelan combination once again for the second goal with Whelan setting up Grimes on the counter attack. 

The visitors struck back in the second half with a powerful long range wonder goal. Grimes provided the assist to Danny Rochford who scored from close range to secure the victory for the home side in a competitive fixture.  

The First Years are through to the next round of the Leinster Cup and will play Moyle Park.
