Senior Rugby

Congratulations to the Senior Rugby Squad on their successful performance at the Leinster SCT Division 3 qualifier blitz, held on Tuesday, October 1, at Ashbourne Rugby Club.
A total of 10 schools from the North East region participated in the blitz. De La Salle was placed in Group 1 alongside teams from O’Carolan College Nobber, Coláiste Chú Chulainn Dundalk, Ballymakenny College Drogheda, and St. Oliver’s Drogheda. Group 2 featured Coláiste Na Hinse, Ardee Community School, Bush Post Primary, and Dunshaughlin Community College.
The squad secured victories in three out of their four games, narrowly losing their opening match to O’Carolan College Nobber by 3 tries to 2.
Game 1 vs. O’Carolan College, Nobber
O’Carolan College won (15-10). Tries for DLS were scored by Mohamed Abbas (6th Year) and Owen McGahon (5th Year).
Game 2 vs. Coláiste Chú Chulainn, Dundalk
DLS won (15-0). Tries were scored by Cillian O’Shaughnessy (6th Year), Luke McCourt, and Dylan Haughey (both 5th Year).
Game 3 vs. Ballymackenny, Drogheda
DLS won (25-0). Tries were scored by Carl Meegan and Mohamed Abbas (both 6th Year), along with Luke McCourt and Eoin McGahon (both 5th Year), with Eoin scoring two tries. Game 4 vs. St. Oliver’s, Drogheda
DLS won (15-5). Tries were scored by Cormac Broe, Eoin McGahon, and Luke McCourt (all 5th Year).
The top two teams advanced to the cup and shield competitions. After the narrow defeat to O’Carolan College, who won all their games, DLS now progress to the shield competition and will face teams from the metro and south Leinster regions in knockout matches. More information to follow!
