TY Geography River Study in Action!

Today Ms Mc Grane and her TY Geography class headed out to three local river sites to carry out an exciting field study. This will be a huge benefit to the students if they study LC Geography next year. Geographical  investigation work will account for 40% of the final grade under the new specifications.

Students completed detailed risk assessments at each site before measuring river width, depth, velocity and analysing pebble size and shape to better understand fluvial processes in action. It was fantastic to see everyone take on individual roles while working collaboratively as a team.

Experiential learning at its best , getting out into our local area and applying classroom knowledge in a real-world setting!

A sincere thank you to Ms Johnston and Ms Toale for their guidance and expertise, to some of the staff for providing equipment and to the local community members who kindly assisted us along the way.

Well done to all involved!
