1st Year Football: De La Salle 3 – 1 Portlaoise Community College

Congratulations to the 1st Year football team who came out victorious against a strong Portlaoise side in their opening match of the season.

Captain Reece Grimes opened the scoring in the first half with a clinical finish. Harry Babington made it two after a long range free kick.

In the second half, it was Grimes who scored the third after picking up a loose ball from a corner. Portlaoise then pulled a consolation back in what was a competitive and entertaining game between the two sides.

The 1st years now progress into the next round of the Leinster Cup and will play Athlone Community College. In the League they have upcoming games against Kells and Ardee. Best of luck lads!
