Accelerated Reader Success

Before the Easter break, Mr Halpin’s English class, 1 Culann, were rewarded with a trip to Dublin for their fantastic engagement with the Accelerated Reader Programme.
As a group, they had read over 10 million words to date, and two individuals, Sam Holohan Vilaseco and Senan O Connor, are actually Word Millionaires.
The whole class worked hard to reach the targets set and tracked by the Accelerated Reader Programme so to recognise their commitment Ms Hoyne organised a trip to Ireland’s largest independently owned bookstore, Chapters, followed by a tour of Dublin City Library with some time for lunch in the Ilac Centre.
It’s important to acknowledge that this year’s first year students have read over 32 million words!
We have never before had a year group reach such success with the AR Programme, and it is because of their phenomenal effort that Ms Hoyne is running two library trips as a reward this year.
